Starring: Gweneth Paltrow, Micheal Douglas, Viggo Mortensen. Directed By: Andrew Davis. The movie is about a woman named Emily Taylor(Paltrow) who has an affair with a man named David Shaw(Mortesenn). Emily's husband Steven(Douglas) finds out, and makes David an offer to kill Emily for $500,000. Emily ends up killing the murderer, and a whole bunch of twists and turns begin. The acting was fine, with Paltrow giving her usual, as were Douglas and Mortensen. Andrew Davis did a pretty good job directing this movie, keeping the suspense up along with James Newton Howard's score. There were a lot of surprises in the movie, especially this one scene between Emily and Steven, that made the theatre go "Oh man, what the heck is she doing?". You'll understand if you see it. Another notable thing about this movie was the nice, sharp black that Davis used very well. I especially liked this one scene in which an Arabic detective is questioning Steven, and the photgraphers are taking pictures of the dead body, so while they talk flashes appeared that looked incredibly sharp. Ohh yes, the Arabic spoken in this movie was sooooo bad it wasn't even funny. BACK TO REVIEWS |
